No matter how hard you want to be with your family, there is always a certain point wherein you have to be away from them. Like going to school. Especially in college. Living in a province and studying in Manila was risky and at the same time fun because you will really learn in life.
There are few things I realized when I had to live far away from my home. (because i tried going home but i always end up being late or sometimes i don't make it to the class anymore or if i got home, i can't study because im so tired so im just gonna sleep and sometimes i got home around 9-11 pm huhu. IN SHORT,HASSLE.)
1. NO MATTER HOW OFTEN YOU AND YOUR MOM FIGHT, YOU WILL ALWAYS, ALWAYS MISS HER.
Fighting over the smallest things and making little things a BIG DEAL will surely annoy you but when you are away from your home, you will miss every little "SERMON" that she always do. At the end of the day, you'll realize, she cares too damn much that's why she says and do whatever she wants. (Really mom, who's the real brat here? haha!)
2. EATING AT A FAST FOOD CHAIN AND SUDDENLY REMEMBERS YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE OF YOUR MOM.
Cooking for you even if she's tired from work? that's a really big sacrifice! And sometimes, you just can't finish the food that she prepared because you're too full already. She'll gonna ask you if you didn't like the food because that's how she feels. And being away from home means not being able to eat a legit "lutong bahay" food and that's the time you'll realize that you miss her and you should've appreciated her better.
3. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE WITH YOUR FRIENDS ALL THE TIME AND THAT MEANS THAT SOMETIMES, YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ALONE.
Going to the mall, eating dinner, going to a coffee shop near you and buying stuffs, sometimes you have to do it alone.(well for me, most of the time.) That will make you miss her even more because these were the things that you used to do together.
4. NO MATTER HOW NICE YOUR DORM IS, YOU WILL ALWAYS PICK YOUR OWN ROOM.
Living away from home means no curfew (yay!!) but at the end of the day, you will miss your very own messy bedroom and closet. Your own bulletin board hanging at the center of your room. Your teddy bear that is lying on the bed with your favorite pillow and that one big poster of Zac Efron which you always stare at before you sleep.
5. IT'S NICE HAVING NEW FRIENDS (BECAUSE ROOMIES MEAN NEW FRIENDS [OR NOT]) BUT BEFORE YOU SLEEP, YOU'LL REALIZE THAT ENDING YOUR NIGHT WITH YOUR FAMILY IS SO SO SO MUCH BETTER.
SELF EXPLANATORY :( No hugots, roomies! I still love you all, Haha! :)
Sorry if i'm not writing anything about dads! It's because I never experienced having one because my mom is a single mom together with my another mama! It's okay not having a dad because everytime i go home, i'm happy to see how blessed I am for having two moms waiting for me (and a brother, even though we always fight) So for you, who is always with your family, cherish them! Love them as much as they love you and appreciate them. Growing up isn't really such a fun thing because that requires us to understand everything even if we don't get it and that also means that our parents are getting old. :( So spend time with them and never forget to tell them that you love them so much!
I can't wait for the weekend, because that means i'm going home. To my real home. <3
