A one hour and 30 minutes flight and almost 2 hours delayed flight did not stop my squad and I to go to Samar and Leyte! My Leyte blog was up first and now it’s time to blog about my Samar trip.
This blog was long overdue. Forgive me HAHA. And since it’s 2018 already, my new year’s resolution is to blog more. I noticed that last year, I somehow got demotivated blogging but now let’s have a fresh start.
Anyway, my Samar trip was a lot of fun. It involved a lot of death defying activities and misfortunes. I honestly thought that I would never see Manila/Pampanga again. HAHA. No joke.
Because Samar has lots of beach around, we decided to go beach hopping. Why not? When all you have to do is to walk to reach the place. How convenient, right?
Let me tell you something: I love swimming but I don’t know how to swim. That’s why I always stay at the shore. I want something to step on. So if I can’t touch the bottom, that means I have to go back because I can’t really swim HAHA.
Since I can’t swim, I’m really here to take good photos and atleast try to dip my body in the water. It’s just amazing how Samar has lots of beach but it’s not that crowded and it’s well maintained.
I’m happy whenever I’m in the sea!
Glad that Nathalie doesn’t know how to swim, too. Both of us were at the shore only.
From left to right- Jher, Me and Nathalie.
We are colleagues/batchmates and turned out good friends!
We also went to this cove and mind you, this is where i almost died HAHA. I didn’t think that the waves were that high and the current was so strong. I actually thought it was nothing until the waves took me away and people started saving me because I got into a whirlpool. Thank God for my second life. Haha.
Actual picture before I got drowned.
Lesson learned: I should learn how to swim.
The cove was also full of rocks that’s why it’s hard to swim. One wrong step and you’ll be stepping on a rock or you’ll be in a whirlpool.
So when I almost died, I decided to be here near the rocks where I can sit. I felt safe here, literally HAHA.
To be able to reach the cove, we had to hike first. Imagine how hard it was for us to locate the place. We had to go back and forth because there’s no signal in the place. That means we couldn’t use any GPS or what.
I actually didn’t know that there will be a hiking. I’m wearing a wrong outfit here. I thought it was a beach. I wasn’t informed that it was a cove and that we have to hike HAHA. Major epic fail.
You can tell that I had fun in Samar. My complexion was a bit darker than my usual complexion. But no regrets!! This Samar trip was soooooo worth it.
Here’s another beach. This time, we didn’t swim. We just took a photo here. We went to church first and after that, we went straight here to take some good photos. Because IG is life.
The church and this place was 2-3 hours away from where we are staying. There’s no jeepneys or taxis or personal car in our place so the only way to go here is to ride a tricycle. Imagine a 2-3 hour tricycle ride. And their tricycle is different. It can load up to 7 people or more.
Here’s the famous church in Samar. It is believed that if you wish and pray here, your prayers will come true. Because during the Yolanda typhoon, all the houses and establishments here vanished except to this church. This church stood strong and had no signs of damages.
I almost lost my wallet and and my phone, too. Good thing that my wallet and phone was given back to me or else, I might not have the chance to go back home HAHA. I lost my pocket wifi because I fell asleep at the van and didn’t notice that it fell out of my bag.
This trip was a looooooooot of fun. It was tiring, YES. But it was worth it. I almost died and thought that I won’t be able to go home. HAHA. It was indeed an adventure! Also, the food was very delicious. This was only a gyst of what happened in Samar. Other stories of our trip will be remembered forever even without writing it here.
Here’s to more travels this 2018!
